We’re pleased to announce two additions to our legal team. Attorney Anthony Siegrist has joined Dickinson Bradshaw as an associate, and Arturo Montes, a Drake Law student, has joined the firm as a law clerk.

Anthony Siegrist

Anthony earned his Juris Doctorate degree in May of this year from Creighton University School of Law, and he holds an undergraduate degree in English from Dordt University. His practice at Dickinson Bradshaw will focus on assisting businesses and individuals with their legal needs primarily in the areas of litigation, employment and labor law, and transactional work.

Prior to passing the bar, Anthony gained valuable legal experience in employment and labor law as a law clerk at the Norfolk, VA firm of Pierce McCoy, PLLC, and he served as a summer associate at Dickinson Bradshaw in 2023.

“I’m excited to return to the firm,” Anthony said. “Along with the experience I’ve gained in employment and litigation, I knew I wanted to expand upon my knowledge, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to become a part of team where I can build my practice and continue to learn from the firm’s seasoned attorneys.”

Anthony is fortunate that he joins a group of senior attorneys who have decades of experience in employment and labor law, as well as experienced litigators.

“We’re pleased Anthony has joined the firm,” said Attorney Melissa Schilling, head of the firm’s Employment & Labor Law section. “He will be a valuable addition to the team as we guide our clients through their often-complex employment and labor needs.”

As the youngest of seven, including a twin brother, Anthony grew up near Algona in the small town of Wesley, IA. From a young age, he knew he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father who is a partner at Siegrist, Jones, Lipps & Bakke in Britt, IA with over 40 years of practicing the law. One of his older brothers is also an attorney.

“Becoming part of the legal community has been a lifelong goal ,” he said. “I grew up around the law, and I always knew that’s what I wanted to do.”

Anthony was drawn to Dickinson Bradshaw to start his practice because of its reputation in the legal community, and his experience with the team of attorneys as a law clerk solidified his choice. Additionally, with three siblings in the Des Moines area, Anthony was drawn to settle in the Des Moines area after law school.

“It feels very comfortable to me,” Anthony said. “I’ve always loved spending time in the city and knew I wanted to be here long term. I’m thrilled to start my career at one of the top firms in Central Iowa.”

Outside the office, Anthony enjoys spending time with his wife, Taylor, as well as playing basketball and exploring new coffee shops.

Arturo Montes

Arturo is currently attending Drake University Law School where he will graduate in May 2026. He holds an undergraduate degree in accounting from Midland University.

Arturo grew up in Chihuahua, Mexico and moved to Des Moines when he was 14 years old. He attended high school at Grandview Christian School and went on to study accounting in college. During his senior year, it was an astute college professor who first encouraged him to consider attending law school.

“He felt it would open more opportunities for me in the business world, and also help me develop sharper writing and communication skills,” he said. “And he was right.”

When he was looking at employment opportunities, Arturo was drawn to Dickinson Bradshaw because of its culture as well as its team of exceptional tax and transactional attorneys.

“Something that really drew me to the firm was the people that I initially met with and how accepting they were,” he said. “I’m also looking forward to the opportunity to work with very skilled and knowledgeable tax attorneys in the Des Moines area.”

Arturo’s legal training has included working as a summer associate at Roxanne Conlin & Associates doing plaintiff’s work, and he has gained valuable accounting experience working in the tax departments of several accounting firms in the Omaha and Des Moines areas, including Tarbell & Co., FORVIS, and Hancock & Dana. His collective tax experience has provided him with an advanced understanding of the tax return process for individuals, corporations, trusts, estates, and partnerships.

In his spare time, Arturo enjoys spending time with his family in the area, as well as his wife, new baby, and two French bulldogs, Ivy and Willow. He is also an avid CrossFitter, and can often be found on the golf course or basketball court.
